Decatur City Schools will dismiss early on Friday, September 3rd to allow each school to be thoroughly disinfected. Many of our buildings are short custodial staff. This early dismissal will allow our custodial and maintenance staff to work together to seal and disinfect high-touch surfaces. Please see the following for dismissal times for Friday: Elementary schools: 11:45 a.m. Secondary schools: 12:30 p.m. Extended day will not be offered.

Thanks to the Decatur City Schools Foundation the AHS media center was able to purchase 70 great books! Our collection is advanced in years and needs diversifying to reflect our student population. Our Media Specialist, Sabrina Smith, was able to purchase trending books with an increased focus on ethnic characters, fiction/nonfiction/classics in Spanish, graphic novels for several classics, sports biographies and autobiographies, books in a variety of reading levels to include our special needs students, and large print books for students with impaired vision. We are very grateful!
