Teacher Spotlight: Rebecca Barley (Holmes)
My name is Rebecca Barley. My teaching career began with homeschooling my 2 children through the Morgan County Board of Education. Later, I was offered an opportunity to teach Adult Education for Decatur City Schools for 3 years. I prepared students to take the GED and High School Graduation. Then, I taught Math at Austin High School for 17 years. I LOVED my job and my STUDENTS. I retired in 2021 from teaching. I was offered an opportunity to teach virtually for DCS Virtual Academy. This is my second year teaching math virtually.
I have a Math Degree from UAH and a Bachelors in Education from Athens State University.
I am married to Danny Barley. Between us we have 4 children and 3 grandchildren.
We enjoy spending time together and especially with our children. We love visiting historical places and camping.
I personally enjoy needlepoint, thrift shopping, antiquing, riding my Peloton and cooking. I do not like doing laundry or emptying the dishwasher (I generally don’t like washing dishes either.)
