My name is Dana Watts and I am the K-2 virtual teacher at Decatur Virtual Academy. I received my Bachelors in Education from Freed-Hardeman University and my Masters in Counseling from the University of Memphis.  I have been teaching for 31 years and this is my third year as a virtual teacher.  I taught Special Education and Kindergarten in Tennessee for 17 years before moving back home to Decatur in 2008.

I was born here in Decatur.  I have two brothers that are younger than me.  My daughter, Jess, is 20 years old and was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome in 2014.  She is my hero and amazes me every day.  Being her mom is the greatest joy of my life!

I love to read, explore nature, sing, and play the piano.  I also love to bullet journal!  Jess and I love to walk the trails on the Wheeler Wildlife Refuge.  We also enjoy spending time with our family, watching movies, and worshiping/spending time with our church family.
