Work crews are putting the final touches on a new activity building at Austinville Elementary School. The new gym includes restrooms, a touchless water fountain, basketball goals and flooring. There's a state-of-the-art HVAC system installed too. It was recently tested to make sure the system is ready ahead of the school start date on August 5th.
Decatur City Schools Board of Education signed off in 2019 on some $6 million dollars in district improvements. This included new activity buildings at Austinville Elementary, Chestnut Grove and Julian Harris.
