Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K) Enrollment Information
Decatur City Schools offers three types of Pre-K programs and each type has different requirements for entrance and registration. The Title I, State, and Special Education Typical Peer Programs each offer opportunities for students to engage in reading readiness skills, math readiness skills, fundamentals of technology and many more exciting learning activities delivered by highly-qualified teachers and paraprofessionals. Requirements for these programs vary and the enrollment period is staggered. Please see the specifics of each program and directions for registration by following the links below:
Title I Pre-K Program (This program is available for children who are 4-years-old on or before September 2, 2018, who live within the Title I school zones of Austinville, Banks-Caddell, Frances Nungester, Somerville Road, West Decatur, and Woodmeade, and who are selected through the screening process. This program is free.)
State Pre-K Program (This program is available for children who are 4-years-old on or before September 2, 2018, live in Alabama, and are selected in a random drawing. There is a charge based on family income.)
Special Education Pre-K Typical Peers Programs (This program is offered to two age groups -- for children who are three years old on or before September 2, 2018, for the 3-year-old program or for children who are four years old on or before September 2, 2018, for the 4-year-old Pre-K program. These students are selected through a screening process. There is a $25 per week charge for each student.)
