 Are you interested in enrolling your student in Decatur City Schools? Please read the information below and follow the appropriate link.

2019-2020 Kindergarten Registration Information
                                                       
Decatur City Schools Kindergarten enrollment opens April 1 thru April 19th.  If you have a child who will be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2019, your child is eligible to attend kindergarten in the 2019-2020 school year.
 

WHAT IS NEEDED FOR KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION

1.  Complete Online Pre-Registration  
 
2.  Submit required Kindergarten forms (Found at the bottom of this page for download, or available at your local school Open House)
- New Student Registration Information
- Home Language Survey
- Employment Survey
 
3. Gather the following Enrollment Documents:
- Proof of name and age (Birth Certificate, Passport or any government issued document stating name and date of Birth)
- Proof of Residence (see Proof of Residence Requirements and FAQ at DCS.edu, Enrollment for more information on acceptable Proof of Residence)
- Photo ID of parent/legal guardian of enrolling student. Only the parent or legal guardian can enroll the student.
- Up-to-date Alabama Immunization form for student
- Social Security Card (helpful, but not required)
- Custody Papers, if applicable. Please see Frequently Asked Questions document at DCS.edu, Enrollment, for more information about accepted custody documents.   
 
 
OPTIONS FOR COMPLETING KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION
 

OPTION 1: COMPLETE PRE-REGISTRATION ONLINE AND SUBMIT REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

An online Kindergarten pre-registration link will be available from April 1-15, 2019 HERE.  After submitting online registration, please take the required Kindergarten forms (item 2 above) and Enrollment documents (item 3 above) to your local elementary school during open house.

 

OPTION 2:   COMPLETE PRE-REGISTRATION AT YOUR LOCAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Kindergarten pre-registration will be available from April 16-19, 2019 at your local elementary school. Please bring the items listed in number 3 above with you at that time.  You will be required to complete the online pre-registration and submit the Kindergarten forms from number 2 above.

 

OPTION 3: COMPLETE PRE-REGISTERATION DURING OPEN HOUSE

Kindergarten pre-registration will be available during Open House. Please bring the Enrollment documents items listed in number 3 above with you at that time.

 

OPTION 4: MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR PRE-REGISTRATION

If you are unable to pre-register online or at Open House, you may contact the Enrollment Center at 256-580-4346 to schedule an appointment after April 22.  You will be required to complete the online pre-registration, complete Kindergarten forms and provide Enrollment document items listed in number 3 above.

  • Kindergarten Registration/Enrollment Information
    • Kindergarten offers exciting and engaging instruction that provides a solid academic foundation for your child. Classrooms are well-equipped and have innovative technology. Besides learning from their classroom teachers, students enjoy working with their art teacher, music teacher, PE teacher, librarian, and counselor. Kindergarten “rocks” in Decatur City Schools!
    • Kindergarten is available for children who are 5-years-old on or before September 1, 2019.
 
  • Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K) Enrollment Information
    • Pre-K students will have an opportunity to engage in reading readiness skills, math readiness skills, fundamentals of technology and many more exciting learning activities delivered by highly-qualified teachers and paraprofessionals.
    • Students must be 3-years-old on or before September 1, 2019, for the 3-year-old Pre-K program or 4-years-old on or before September 1, 2019, for the 4-year-old Pre-K programs.
