Nice to Meet You, Luke Bergeson!

Mr. Bergeson is our new Decatur City Schools Principal at Chestnut Grove Elementary School. You may already know some impressive facts from his resume, but I bet you didn’t know that he met his wife in 4th grade! I asked Mr. Bergeson some random questions just for fun, and the answers might just make you smile.

Resume highlights:

Assistant Principal at Austin High for the last 2 years

Teacher on Special Assignment at Huntsville City Schools for 2 years

Third grade teacher for 9 years

What is your favorite book of all time?

Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?  It was the first book I learned to read by myself and the first book my daughter learned to read by herself.

What is your most embarrassing school memory?

The picture says it all. (pictured with his wife)

Favorite M&M color:

Red, because they taste better. Also, it’s my favorite color.

If you could be any animal in the world, what animal would you be?

Elephant. Because I never forget anything.

If you could relive one grade in school, which one would you choose?

I had an awesome teacher in 4th grade; she was just a very nurturing person. And believe it or not, I also met my wife in 4th grade. And my future sister-in-law. All three of us were in the same 4th grade class together!

Personal message from Mr. Bergeson:

“I’m looking forward to this school year so I can meet students and their families. I look forward most to maybe teaching a few classes whenever I can.”
