Welcome to the Walter Jackson Elementary School Library Blog. This blog will contain posts on library projects and upcoming events. Comments by students, parents, and others are welcome. Mr. McDonald, librarian, is the blog's moderator and reads all comments before they are posted. If they are school-appropriate and on topic, he will post them to the blog as soon as he receives them.

1. WordGirl
On Wed., Apr. 27, some classes at Walter Jackson will be competing in the PBS WordGirl Definition Competition. To help students prepare, they will post their favorite words here along the word's definition and a sentence using that word. See Mr. McDonald's example for the correct posting format.

2. April Fool's Day Jokes
Which building has the most stories? The library, of course! As you can see, Mr. McDonald needs a lot of help improving his jokes. Post your favorite clean and school-friendly jokes here. If you need help finding a good joke, check out our Computer Lab page and go to the Holidays section where you will find joke Websites in celebration of April Fool's Day. Some of the funniest jokes may be read aloud on our school news show!

3. Book Tweets
In celebration of the 100th Day of School, students in grades 3-5 will be posting Book Tweets. The tweets are short book summaries using no more than 100 characters (letters, spaces, and punctuation).
To post a tweet, comment on this post and write your tweet as the comment. Mr. McDonald will read the tweet, and if it is school-appropriate and 100 characters or less, he will post it to this blog.
Be sure to include the author and title of the book in your tweet. The author and title do not count in the 100 characters. Follow Mr. McDonald's sample tweets for the correct format.
Happy Tweeting!
