Good News for October from LSMS!

 

• Our students displayed excellent sportsmanship behavior during Sheff Cup.
• Effort defeats Difficulty in Mrs. Brewer's math class. Though the material has consistently gotten harder, students' determination has made their test grades consistently go up! Way to go kiddos!! 
• 5th graders are finishing a unit on Mythology in enrichment. They have worked beautifully, had fun, and learned lots!
• Sheff Cup champs 3rd grade- Davis, 4th grade White, 5th grade Brannon
• For the Community Service Project, Banks Murphree, went over and beyond for the project. He extended the project and made a DVD of this project.
• Our school news show looks great and is getting a lot of views on SchoolTube! The news crew are doing a fantastic job researching, reporting, and recording.
• Carter Crane and Carter Williams are producing and directing a play in Mrs. Orr’s classroom.
• Our staff is very gracious by giving compliments to each other.  A compliment from one teacher to another is like winning the lottery.
• Third Graders have learned the names of different family members in Spanish.  They will be very happy to serenade you in Spanish with the family song and tell you who these people are.
• 4th grade ended their IB planner on Expressions with a Culture Project.  The students chose a country, completed and printed a powerpoint, and constructed the powerpoint into a mobile.  They then presented the project to the class along with an artistic expression from the country.  Our most unusual item was getting to try Toasted Seaweed from South Korea.
• Our first effort at the E-instruction video competition is progressing nicely.
• Centerstage will be going on a trip to Nashville to spread holiday cheer to children in the Nashville area.  We will be singing at the TN Baptist Children's home in Brentwood and at the Children's hospital wing at Vanderbilt hospital.
• Our faculty and staff is synergizing beautifully this year!  It is a delight to come to school each day and work with such a great team.
• All students in my class worked together in groups to research a region of our country and then create and present slide shows highlighting those regions.
• We had a record number of students who auditioned for Grease^A School Version this year.  We also have a RECORD number of 180 students who will be in the production this spring.  These children will develop responsibility and communication skills that will go with them for the rest of their lives.  Celebrate the arts in your life!
• KFC has done a wonderful job presenting skits that show examples of positive character traits during Wednesday morning meetings.

• Also, school-wide, students have been very encouraging to each other by filling buckets!
