Daikin Paintings DAIKIN PAINTING COMPETITION Daikin America very generously supports a painting competition between all the Decatur elementary schools' fifth grades. Every year Daikin selects a theme and sends with it a 3'x4' prepared canvas, and a box of paints and supplies to EVERY elementary school. Within a certain time frame, the schools are to produce an original painting and turn it in to be judged. These paintings are then taken to the Daikin Festival in May to be displayed. Afterward the paintings are brought back to their company for a year, replacing the prior year's paintings, which are sent back to the schools. Each school's fifth grade is awarded a plaque and sheet cake for participating, and the winning school also recieves a pizza party!
Below are some of our previous paintings that we have created for Daikin. Upon unpacking all the paintings the works will be updated. Enjoy our creativity!!
2007 THEME: Outer Space - The Unknown Frontier
For some reason the finished painting picture alludes me...I'll find it soon! The moon and smaller planets with other astronauts with different flags were painted in along with written ideas of what the students thought would be found behind the door of the unknown. The white arrow had "unknown" painted on it like a blinking ad. arrow.
2006 THEME: This year Daikin chose an international theme by selecting one country for each elementary school.
2005 THEME: This photo collage of 'all creatures great and small' had the students searching National Geographics and other magazines for pictures relevant to the continents that they belonged to on their map.
Africa North America
South America Europe Australia
2002 THEME: America, the Beautiful The students took the opening lyrics to America, the Beautiful and came up with the design of the United States made of pictures of our school population and teachers. The variety of people make our country beautiful. Our flag became the key to unlocking freedom that the eagle guards. Eagle Close-Up Statue of Liberty Close-Up
199? THEME: Life - The students broke their lives down into four areas; family and friends (the roots), and school and sports (the branches.) This is a multimedia painting with photos, paint, and texture paint.
