Let's Read!
In our classroom we read everyday! We also read for homework every evening. We keep a Response Log about our books. In the log we write about the books we are reading. We may write a letter to the author, a basic summary, or draw a picture. The writing helps us keep track of our thinking. We have reading lessons in which we learn how to ask questions, listen to our inner voices, and track our thoughts. We chart these things and talk to each other about our books. We have Book Shares and constantly recommend books to one another. Mrs. Davis believes that most books contain a little wisdom. We can learn so much from book characters and how they handle the problems they encounter. We can also savor the magic of the words within books and celebrate the wonderful writing. We love reading!
