Hello and Welcome to a new school year!  We are so excited to have your child at Ben Davis and Leon Sheffield. This year promises to be one of great learning adventures.  Each week we update this newsletter with information parents and students may find useful such as dates, times, permission forms, and reminders.

 

Please let us know if you would like to be deleted from this news. Also let us know if there are any other email addresses you would like for this news to be sent (work email, home email, grandparents, etc.).

 

 

Wrapping paper sales were due last Friday.

 

Ben Davis has the Quiney, Newland, Watkins class play this Thursday at 9:00.

 

Leon Sheffield's fourth grade has a test next week on the Spanish alphabet.  A study sheet has been sent home.  This information is a review of last year's material.

 

Chick-Fil-A Spirit Night for DCMS PTA is August 31st. Please go by Chick-fil-a from 5 to 8 on Tuesday and help support our schools. Chick-fil-a will donate 10% of all purchases back to our schools. You will need to tell them it is for DCMS for us to get credit for your purchases. We will have a class competition for the night. All you need to do is put your teacher's name on the back of your receipt and leave it at Chick-fil-a and we will total the results. This is a fun night for the kids. You can also turn in your receipts from the drive thru. 

 

This week Leon Sheffield will have auditions for the school musical, Center Stage, and Creative Crew.

 

The PTA is excited to kick off the year with Open House on September 9th. Open House is at 5:30 at Ben Davis and 6:30 at Leon Sheffield. Please join us to learn about all the excitement at Ben Davis and join the PTA.  The cost to join PTA is $5 per family. As a member of PTA, you are helping by supporting the teachers and students. Our goal is 100% membership. Please help us reach our goal.

 

September 10th is Ben Davis Grandparents and Grand Friends Day. Please invite someone to spend this special time with your child, it does not have to be a grandparent. Second grade and Kindergarten will be from 8:30 to 10:00. First Grade will be from 12:30 to 2:00. PTA has asked that you send in $3 to help cover the costs associated with Grandparent's Day.

 

September 13th is Leon Sheffield Grandparents and Grand Friends Day at 8:30. This is a fantastic time for students to share their school with someone special. PTA has asked that you send in $3 to help cover the costs associated with Grandparent's Day.

 

September 13th is picture day at Ben Davis.

 

If you need an STI HOME password for your student, please email your principal or call the school office to have one sent home.  A child's password does not change from year to year so your previous passwords are valid.  Teachers are working to get this information up to date as quickly as possible.

 

 

October 1st is Fall Frenzy at Leon Sheffield from 3:00 to 8:00. This is a family fun night for all the kids from both schools. There will be food, games, inflatables, and auction items. Come out and enjoy the fun and help support the school.
