My Home Page Welcome
This Week in the LMC

Welcome to the LSMS Website! I hope the information on these pages will be helpful to you. Betty Ann Mitchum

Our library is open at all times for students to check-out books and for independent research. In addition, each class has a designated time for her students to use the library each week for instruction. Teachers and the LMS plan together to coordinate library instruction with the classroom curriculum and to make sure library skills are taught within that context.

Current Happenings in the LMC:

 Fifth Grade

Fifth graders in Mrs. Fleischauer's, Mrs. Orr's, and Mrs. Williams classes are beginning Poetry! We'll read it, write it, recite it! In addition, students will learn about figurative language and some of the world's well-known poets.  Mrs. Brannon's class will join in on Poetry when they complete their study of the elements of a story.

Fourth Grade

Fourth Graders in Miss Bowling's class have completed lessons on the elements of a fiction story and will join Mrs. Corson's and Mrs. Holmes' students in learning about the correct format for citing sources for reports and projects.

Third Grade

Mrs. Davis' class joined the third graders in Mrs. England's and Mrs. Borden's classes who have received AVL training and now have passwords to use AVL at home.  Several of Mrs. Davis' students have been involved in literature groups and an author study for several weeks.  A group from Mrs. Parker's class has just completed a literature circle that met twice a week in the library. Half of Mrs. Sharman's class meets weekly to work on Literature Pockets - a study of genres.
